Early Model Aeron Chair, 1996, Size B, Lumbar Support, Fully Equipped
This is an Aeron Chair Classic by Herman Miller.
Purchased in 1996 at Yamagiwa Libina Main Store in Akihabara.
This is the genuine first model, as no design changes had been made since the Aeron Chair's debut in 1994.
Even a Herman Miller service technician was surprised, saying, I've never seen an earlier unit than this.
It is, of course, in full original condition.
Size is B, with lumbar support.
Armrest height is adjustable via a dial.
Current functionality is as follows:
(〇 indicates no issues, △ indicates minor issues)
- Forward tilt...〇
- Recline tension adjustment...〇
- Recline range setting...〇
- Recline lock...〇
- Seat height adjustment...△ (※1)
- Armrest height adjustment...〇
- Armrest angle adjustment (swivel)...〇
- Lumbar support...△ (※2)
※1...When raising the seat height,
light support is needed to lift the seat.
※2...The lumbar support is functional,
but there are cracks due to age on both ends (image 17, top).
(Replacement parts can be purchased for around 3,000 yen)
Other notable damage or malfunctions are listed below.
───────────────────
There is a fraying of approximately 2.5x2.5cm on the upper right of the backrest (image 16, top right).
This has been the condition for 20 years, so it is unlikely to worsen with normal use.
There are scuffs on the outside of both armrests (image 16, bottom).
The left armrest has some looseness.
There is a large tear on the right armrest pad (image 15).
(Replacement parts for both left and right can be purchased for around 3,000 yen)
There are scratches on parts of the legs (image 17, bottom).
The banana cushion under the seat shows signs of age (image 12),
but it is not crumbling and still provides cushioning.

Shipping will be via Tanomeru-bin.
